Our Experience in the Care Sector
Thain Commercial are specialists when it comes to providing commercial laundry & dishwashing solutions for business’s operating across many different sectors. One sector we undertake a great deal of work in, is the care home sector in Scotland, having built up a great deal of experience of this sector, supporting several public and private care homes the length and breadth of Scotland.
The Client
Recently, we supported the development of Northcare Scotland’s new care facility (Drumby), that is situated in the Clarkston area of Glasgow, called Northcare Residences.
This premium, 5-star luxury care home facility is the latest addition to Northcare Scotland’s care home portfolio. This new care home offers premium luxury assisted living suites for elderly residents. The 60-bed facility is a state-of-the-art facility that provides residents with all the facilities they would expect to see in a care home of this standard.
The Solution We Provided
Northcare Scotland approached us to design, supply and fit out the commercial laundry and dishwashing operation in their new care home, which we were of course happy to undertake. Drawing on our experience of supporting similar clients in this sector, we set about designing the laundry for the client, working to the parameters they provided us with regarding space availability and budget for the work to be undertaken.
We provided the client with drawings of how we envisaged the care home laundry being laid out, as well as a list of machines which we felt were the best machines to be installed in the laundry that would meet the needs of the care home and its’ residents. This specification included Electrolux Professional Clarus Vibe Washers, which we were able to source and instal, as Electrolux Professional Partners.
As well as the main laundry for the care home, the client also required a self-service laundrette facility within the assisted living suites. This provided those residents, who could undertake these daily living tasks, with the ability to retain a sense of independence, an extremely important factor in a care home setting.
As well as the laundry, we also provided the client with a specification for their dishwashing operations, through the installation of Miele Professional, catering dishwashers for 5 different, individual servery areas as well as a communal brasserie/lounge, which we were able to do as a Miele Professional Partner.
Reducing Utility Bills
To help the client ensure that their ongoing running costs would be as low as they possibly could be, we suggested that they install low energy heat pump technology, tumble dryers. Not only would this see a substantial decrease in the utility costs that the care home would have to meet going forward, but these machines would also help reduce the care home’s carbon footprint and provide for a more sustainable laundry operation.
Next Steps
Our support does not stop there. As a result of having the largest team of independent service engineers in Scotland, we are also able to service and maintain any commercial laundry or dishwashing machines that we instal (or are already installed) on behalf of a client.
This was the case with the machines installed at Northcare’s new care home in Drumby, and we will now help the client keep these machines operating at optimum performance for many years to come, by meeting their ongoing service and maintenance requirements.
